¿Qué es una baza? What is a trick?
Una baza es una ronda corta dentro de una mano. Cada jugador juega una sola carta y, cuando todos jugaron, una de esas cartas gana la ronda.
A trick is a short round inside a hand. Each player plays one card and, after everyone has played, one of those cards wins the round.
¿Cómo empieza una mano? How does a hand begin?
Primero se reparten cartas a todos los jugadores. Luego, un jugador inicia la primera baza jugando una carta sobre la mesa. Esa carta define el palo de salida.
First, cards are dealt to all players. Then one player starts the first trick by playing a card to the table. That card defines the lead suit.
¿Qué significa seguir el palo? What does follow suit mean?
Significa jugar una carta del mismo palo que abrió la baza. En muchos juegos esto es obligatorio si tenés una carta de ese palo en la mano.
It means playing a card from the same suit as the card that opened the trick. In many games this is mandatory if you have one in your hand.
¿Quién gana una baza? Who wins a trick?
En general, gana la carta más alta del palo de salida entre quienes siguieron ese palo. Si el juego tiene triunfo, una carta de triunfo puede superar a las demás.
In general, the highest card of the lead suit wins among the players who followed that suit. If the game has trump, a trump card can beat the others.
¿Qué es el triunfo? What is trump?
El triunfo es un palo especial definido por las reglas del juego o por la mano actual. Suele ganar la baza aunque el palo inicial haya sido otro.
Trump is a special suit defined by the rules of the game or by the current hand. It often wins the trick even if another suit was led first.
¿Qué pasa si no tengo cartas del palo que salió? What happens if I do not have a card in the lead suit?
Depende del juego. A veces podés jugar cualquier carta. En otros casos puede existir obligación de jugar triunfo o cumplir otra regla adicional.
It depends on the game. Sometimes you may play any card. In other games you may be required to play trump or follow another additional rule.
¿Cómo se cuentan los puntos? How are points counted?
Hay varios sistemas. Algunos juegos cuentan cuántas bazas ganó cada jugador o equipo. Otros suman puntos por apuestas, cartas especiales o objetivos cumplidos.
